Turbines from Brno head for the US market
Article Abstract:
Prvni brnenska strojirna (PBS) (Brno, Czech Republic), engineering firm, has begun delivering turbines to the US. In Feb 2001 the firm completed a steam turbine with an output of 27 MW. The turbine is intended for the combined production of electric power and steam at the paper firm Minnesota Power (US). PBS is a part of the group Alstom Power (AP). In Brno, AP was awarded contracts worth about CEK 4.5 bil and expects a gross profit of CEK 200 mil for 2000. It has about 1,800 employees.

A German firm invests in the Mikulov region
Article Abstract:
Heat Transfer Systems (HTS) (Novosedly, Czech Republic), engineering firm, should increase its production and should commission another production line in 2001. The investment costs on the project should amount to more than CEK 20 mil. HTS should employ about 100 persons in Novosedly. The firm manufactures heat exchangers for cooling and air conditioning equipment. HTS was set up by the concern Behr (Germany).
