Changing world for private client services
Article Abstract:
The UK market for private client stockbrokers has changed with mergers such as that between Greig Middleton and Gerrard Vivian Gray. This merger creates the UK's biggest private client stockbroker. Meanwhile, Rathbones has acquired Neilson Cobbold and Laurence Keen, and Albert E Sharp has acquired Brown Shipley's broking activities. Private banking has also been affected by changes such as the end of Coutts and Co's hierarchical structure and the consolidation of operations inside Barclays Private bank.
