Cognitive simulation as a tool for cognitive task analysis
Article Abstract:
The Cognitive Environment Simulation (CES) is a cognitive simulation which uses empirical data on human performance to determine the cognitive demands of a task, to specify where intention errors can probably occur and present improvements in the human-machine system. It has been tested on various nuclear power plant accident simulations. CES can be used to determine the cognitive prerequisites of a problem-solving scenario as a part of a cognitive task analysis.

Designs are hypotheses about how artifacts shape cognition and collaboration
Article Abstract:
Engineering designs contain hypotheses which are essential in the formation of cognition and collaboration. Cognitive science has proven that artifacts form cognition and collaboration. Technological changes also affect human cognition, performance and collaboration. As designers aim to produce new products and prototype, they make use of designs which contain theories of technological changes influencing cognition and collaboration.

The alarm problem and directed attention in dynamic fault management
Article Abstract:
Cognitive activities in dynamic fault management are investigated using the results of field studies from multiple domains. The character of fault diagnosis is different in dynamic fault management compared to troubleshooting a faltering mechanism which has been pulled out from service. A certain underlying process changes state over time in fault management.
