Concurrent duration production as a workload measure
Article Abstract:
Two experiments were undertaken to generate a theoretical rationale on the use of prospective timing as a secondary task for the approximation of workload. Workload was denoted as the effort required in task performance and prospective timing was established as a non-intrusive and secondary task involved in concurrent workload. Results revealed that concurrent duration production was more sensitive to actual workload levels than verbal duration estimation. It was also stressed that duration production must first be tested to prevent interference with primary task performance.

Physiological workload reactions to increasing levels of task difficulty
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to determine the physiological workload reactions of pilots with increasing work difficulties. A flight simulation, which required the subjects to fly through a tunnel with varying difficulties, was utilized to determine their physiological reaction. The subjects were also subjected to difficult memory tasks. Results revealed that many of the subjects exerted a great deal of mental effort while performing difficult tasks.
