Conjoint measurement of consumers' preferences for multiattribute financial services
Article Abstract:
Attempts to measure consumer preference for financial services have usually produced unsatisfactory results. A study was conducted which was designed to surmount the traditional measurement problems by using conjoint measurement methodologies to analyze the preferences of affluent financial consumers for alternative cash management accounts (CMAs). Although the study findings were based on a limited consumer sample and generalizations should be made cautiously, it was found that the most sought after characteristics of a CMA were: a detailed monthly statement; mutual funds; money market savings; line of credit; and that the CMA be serviced by a personal account officer. Also important was source familiarity, and those surveyed considered their banks to be more important sources of CMAs than their stockbrokers. A negative relation was found between minimum balance requirements and CMA desirability.

Listing and the liquidity of bank stocks
Article Abstract:
For over 200 banking groups, the potential effects of listing bank stocks on bank liquidity are analyzed. Various measures of liquidity are tied to an exchange listing dummy variable, using a multiple regression model. Not only was no evidence found of increased liquidity as a result of listing, but the results from the regression model show a substantial reduction in liquidity.
