Courtaulds
Article Abstract:
Courtaulds has faced a rise in the cost of raw materials and this has affected the group's chemicals and fibers division. The group's clients are also seeking price reductions as acrylonitrile, a raw material, drops in price, and margins are thus under pressure. Better performance has come from the coatings and polymer products division, where profits and margins rose. A plant is being built in Alabama for the group's new fiber, Tencel. A profit of 150 million pounds sterling is forecast for full-year 1995 to 1996, a similar figure to the previous year.
