Article Abstract:
Raytheon has acquired the defense electronics business of Texas Instruments and may acquire Hughes Electronics from General Motors (GM). GM is to decide on who will acquire Hughes, and could be willing to accept Raytheon stock. Missiles launched
Article Abstract:
General Motors is selling Hughes Electronics, its military electronics business. Groups likely to want to acquire Hughes Electronics include Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, and McDonnell Douglas. Raytheon appears most likely to succeed and already has two JVs with Hughes Electronics. Competition could push up the price paid to General Motors, and the companies that fail in the bid could become involved in further consolidation.
