Deposit insurance and the risk premium in bank deposit rates
Article Abstract:
This paper studied the extent to which insurer credibility and moral hazard effects are simultaneously present in interest rate data from 13 developed countries that differ in the amount of formal depositor protection offered by the banks. As part of this paper, banking law is also mentioned in order to describe what other financial services banks are allowed to offer in those countries.

Banking crises and the design of safety nets
Article Abstract:
The effects of government policies that provide safety nets to the banking industry are discussed. It is suggested that banks may tend to be more undisciplined in the presence of safety nets thereby bringing themselves to the brink of financial crisis.
