Eight-point plan

The ICAEW's Audit and Assurance Faculty's recently published guidance contains a practical eight-point plan addressing the topical issues surrounding the audit of groups. The eight points discussed are get organised, analyse the group structure, focus on the quality of other auditors, focus the group audit on high risk areas, understand internal controls across the group, understand the technical complexities of group audits, review other auditors' working papers, and update procedures, training and tools.

The International Standard on Quality Control (ISQC) (UK and Ireland) 1, has defined quality controls for the firms carrying out audits and related services which were effective from 15 June 2006. The recommendations of ICAEW's Audit and Assurance Faculty regarding the seven main actions to set the increased measures, policies and procedures in place, needed to comply with ISQC(UK and Ireland)1, are presented.
