Applied Distribution has seen a drop in its share price and iisued two profit warnings in a three month period. The company's balance sheet has deteriorated. Applied Distribution has admitted to pricing a three-year contract wrongly. The contract is with HL Foods and lasts until April 1998. The company faces overcapacity and strong rivals such as Christian Salvesen. Margins are thin for the work the company is competing for. Applied is not likely to report a profit above 200,000 pounds sterling for 1996 and could achieve a profit of 1.5 million pounds for 1997.
