Extending the boundaries of molecular modeling
Article Abstract:
Computers have played a major role in the design of drugs. Computers were utilized in the analysis of quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSARs) in drug discovery research as far back as the 1960's. Computers have been applied to nearly every aspect of the development of drugs since that time. Computers are used for everything from target identification to the formulation of products. The value of computers in the development of pharmaceuticals will only grow.

EU expansion: enlarged horizons or false dawn?
Article Abstract:
Ten more countries will join the European Union (EU), which will bring more prospects for the biotech sector especially in large countries like Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic. Many scientists from all the three countries believe that the biggest obstacle in developing their biotech industry is the lack of cooperation between academia and industry.
