Extending the performance limits of CCD image sensors
Article Abstract:
Recent research has looked at the technological factors which restrict the optical imaging performance of Charge Coupled Device (CCD) image sensors. Particular attention was given to devices commercially manufactured by EEV Ltd. This company has made technological advances which have allowed the spectral range to be widened and the quantum efficiency to be increased. Progress has also been made with reducing output noise while maintaining frequency performance.
