Family firms
Article Abstract:
A model is presented for succession in a firm both owned and managed by the founder, in which the founder chooses between leaving management to the heir or employing a professional manager. Discussion of the model assumes the professional, rather than the heir, to be a better manager, and includes historical corporate governance patters as case studies.
