Four firms win pacts to evaluate capabilities: To develop unmanned surveillance Navy opts for study

The US Navy is enhancing its unmanned persistent maritime surveillance capabilities in lieu of a request for information (RFI) for its Broad Area Maritime Surveillance (BAMS) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) program and has awarded four contracts in a study program. The four firms who received the contracts were The Boeing Company, General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, Lockheed Martin Corporation, and Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation.

Lockheed sees FCS work grow

The Future Combat System (FCS) restructuring has made Lockheed Martin Corp. receiving $61 million plus-up to the Multifunction Utility/Logistics and Equipment (MULE) System Development and Demonstration (SDD) contract. FCS Lead System Integrator (LSI), The Boeing Co. issued the contract modification that increases the number of prototypes being delivered from 17 to 19 with the first prototypes delivered in the third quarter of 2010.

Canada may rush multi-billions contract for Boeing, Lockheed

Canada is likely to skip its normal defense contract tendering process so it can rush through an order for C$12 billion (just over US$10 billion) worth of Lockheed Martin Corporation, Hercules heavy-lift aircraft and Boeing Chinook helicopters. Members of Canadian decision makers are to discuss how to speed up the order for off-the-shelf U.S. military equipment rather than going the normal way of planning and tendering process.
