Ethical ways to improve the financial 'look' of a company are suggested in a humorous parable. The examination of current accounting policies can indicate areas in which the policies are too conservative. One example is the depreciation of vehicles based on short lifetimes and no residual value. The income from the sale of these vehicles is not shown as profit but as miscellaneous income. The capitalization of indirect costs or interest can also improve the financial picture.
