Galena changes its name after a merger with Ivax

Ivax CR (Opava, Czech Republic), pharmaceutical firm, is becoming the follower of the pharmaceutical firm Galena (Opava, Czech Republic) in Mar 2001. The change of the firm's name was realized upon the requirement of Galena's decisive shareholder Ivax International (US). A reason for the change of the firm's traditional name is the incorporation of Galena into the global trade and marketing network of the concern Ivax (US). According to audited results, Galena saw a net profit of CEK 166 mil under proceeds of CEK 2.187 bil from the sales of products and services in 1999. The company has not yet reported its 2000 results.

Galena (Opava, Czech Republic), pharmaceutical firm, saw a net profit of CEK 306 mil in 2000. The sum is 85% higher compared to CEK 166 mil in 1999. The company's proceeds amounted to CEK 2.4 bil in 2000, 12% more compared to 1999. Galena's majority shareholder is Ivax (US).
