Generali Pojistovna increases prescribed premiums
Article Abstract:
Generali Pojistovna (Prague, Czech Republic), insurance firm, prescribed premiums worth CEK 1.74 bil in 2000, one third more compared to 1999. The growth was caused mainly by the entrance of Generali to the motor liability insurance market after its de-monopolization. The insurance firm prescribed premiums worth CEK 646.6 mil for 1Q 2001, 18.5% more compared to 1Q 2000. Its premiums in the field of non-life insurance rose by 19% to CEK 515.3 mil for 1Q 2001 compared to 1Q 2000. Its premiums in the field of life insurance increased by 16.6% to CEK 131.3 mil for 1Q 2001 compared to 1Q 2000.

Komercni Pojistovna lowers loss

Komercni pojistovna (KM) (Prague, Czech Republic), insurance company, decreased its loss to CEK 6.6 mil in 2000 compared to a loss of CEK 99 mil in 1999. The 2000 loss was influenced by the enlargement of the firm's branch network and investments in car no-fault insurance. The firm's prescribed premiums were over CEK 1.9 bil in 2000 compared to CEK 462 mil in 1999. KM's prescribed premiums in the field of life insurance were CEK 467 mil and its prescribed premiums in the field of non-life insurance CEK 1.447 bil in 2000.

IPB Pojistovna decreases its market share

IPB pojistovna (Pardubice, Czech Republic), universal insurance company, prescribed premiums worth CEK 6.1 bil in 2000, according to preliminary results. In 1999 the firm prescribed premiums worth nearly CEK 6 bil. IPB Pojistovna decreased its market share to 8.8% in 2000 compared to 9.6% in 1999. The insurance firm was affected by events around Investicni a Postovni banka (Czech Republic) in 2000.
