Global Trends in Public Relations
Article Abstract:
There are three types of global trends in public relations. These are likely global developments beyond control, trends that may be influenced and intangibles. The development of new communications technologies will have impact worldwide. The world will be brought closer together at the same time that groups of individuals will be isolated. Corporate public relations will become an integral part of corporate management. There should be agreement on a definition of public relations. Public relations must be based on truth and full information. The demand for public relations services will depend on the profession's ability to meet changing and specialized client needs. Public Relations and Research in Europe
Article Abstract:
An assessment of public relations education and research in Europe is presented. Although education and research are in early developmental stages, such programs are increasing. Public relations courses have been introduced in most countries. Some universities are beginning to offer graduate courses. A few countries have developed post-academic public relations studies. However, there is a widening gap between older practitioners and newly educated young employees. The theoretical foundation of public relations needs to be developed. Professional associations need to support educational and research programs. An international center for research and publications should be established.
