Depositary receipts trading on then U.S. markets during 2003 is above that of the same time last year. Non-U.S. companies and governments raised $420 million via U.S. offerings during 2003, which is significantly less than the $3.7 billion raised during the same time last year. The article also discusses activities by European, Ukrainian, Asian, and South African companies.

Companies refinancing bonds at record pace

KDP Investment Advisors stated that new-issuance volume increased to $18.4 billion. This record level is due largely to companies with impaired credit rating rushing to refinance their debt.
