Oxford, Cambridge and London Universities, out of necessity or perhaps a realization that the real competition lies outside Britain, are now working toward a common goal, ensuring that the 'golden triangle' becomes a global science hub. These universities are combining forces in a number of ways including strategic alliances, joint appointments and shared infrastructure.

Japanese national universities are now 'incorporated'
Article Abstract:
The national universities of Japan are desperate to make money because the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Science and Technology agreed to shrink funds for research, education and administration costs. For this they are commercializing their research in order to obtain royalties to make up for the decreased government funds.
