Good things in small packages
Article Abstract:
Venture capitalists in north west England are competing for large deals, and some have decided that small deals involving larger volumes are worth pursuing. Companies may find difficulty obtaining sums of less than 3 million pounds sterling, as values of deals increase, but there were a large number of deals under this sum in 1997. Venture capital trusts are especially involved in small deals. Murray Johnstone and Capital for Companies manage such trusts, and 3i is also involved in the market for small deals in the region.

Backing the beginnings

Venture capitalists in this field will find that they need to invest a great deal of time in the investment and tend to become non-executive directors or company chairman.
