Madison Avenue magazine commissioned Simmons Market Research Bureau to survey 1,000 American adults as to if and what magazines they read in the bathroom. It was found that 31 percent of those surveyed read magazines in the bathroom, which means over 50 million people. Twenty-six percent of women read in the bathroom, particularly in the 35 to 49 age group, and 36 percent of men read there, primarily the 18 to 34 age group. The 14 most popular magazines for bathroom reading, in descending order, were: True Story; Seventeen; Time; Sport; Sports Illustrated; Money; Mother Earth News; Sports Afield; Prevention; Cosmopolitan; People; Us; Self; Reader's Digest.
