HASC fears demise of U.S. rotorcraft industry
Article Abstract:
Members of a House Armed Services Committee panel stated that without substantial new investments in basic research, the U.S. rotorcraft industry would be unable to compete with European helicopter makers. In 2002, NASA decided to stop funding the rotorcraft research funding, while the European Union is increasing investments in rotorcraft research since 1987.

JSF weight changes will come from inside
Article Abstract:
A senior company official for JSF stated that Lockheed Martin would cut off excess weight from the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter without changing the outer mold lines of the aircraft. The developmental aircraft can attain its target empty weight from modifications from inside the aircraft, which include changes to subsystems or the internal structure.
