Guardian Royal Exchange
Article Abstract:
Guardian Royal Exchange is a UK insurer which has seen a rise in trading profit in 1995 with high premiums and low claims. The company has been selective about business, increasing profit despite a drop in general insurance premiums. The company's investments dropped in value in 1994 due to losses on bond markets and a recovery is likely in 1995, but there is scope for improvement in Guardian's investment policy. The company's trading profit is forecast at 330 million pounds sterling for full-year 1995.

Article Abstract:
Credit Lyonnais may sell products for Allianz, a German insurer, for commission, in a move which would help Allianz penetrate the French market. Credit Lyonnais has previously held talks with a number of French insurers, such as Assurances Generales de France. Some French insurers, such as UAP are unable to set up an agreement with Credit Lyonnais due to prior agreement with other banks. The move would increase competition in the French market.

Article Abstract:
Insurance companies are offering better early cash-in values to endowment policyholders, and the new rates are often higher than secondhand policies. The new rates are in response to new rules requiring the disclosure to buyers by insurers of likely surrender values, especially in the first five years of a policy.
