HSBC
Article Abstract:
HSBC was affected by the Asian financial crisis in 1998, and loan quality was hit, but the banking group is benefiting from economic recovery of Far East economies. Provisions have been reduced, and the group is carrying out acquisitions. Credit Lyonnais rates the group's stocks a buy for long term investments, while Paribas rates them a hold. Teather and Greenwood rates them a reduce, and is concerned about a number of issues such as a deal involving Safra, which could be too expensive.
