Hand and arm problem in flautists and a design for prevention

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted on hand and arm problems in flautists where it is severe in professional players resulting in being unable to work. An important result from the test of professional flautists demonstrated that right thumb support prevented rotation of the flute about its longitudinal axis and thus reduces tension in forearm, wrist and fingers and there by led to introduction of right hand thumb rest on the market.
