Heal's: head over Heal's
Article Abstract:
Heal's plans a flotation in Mar 1997 and aims to expand to 10 stores throughout the UK. The company previously attempted an expansion outside London, England, in the 1980s but the stores were later closed and the company was making losses at the time of its management buyout in 1990. Heal's is to raise 10 million pounds sterling with some 8 million pounds to be used to pay NatWest Ventures which is selling a stake of 50%. The four directors of Heal's are reducing their stake to a little over 30%.

High street worries
Article Abstract:
Uno is a United Kingdon furniture retailer which has seen a drop in orders due to fear of recession. The company's pre-tax profit is forecast at five million pounds sterling for 1998 to 1999 by Merrill Lynch, and this is a downward revision from six million pounds. The company plans to expand and integrate World of Leather, and this should bring long-term rewards. Uno may also be able to acquire competitors at prices that should appear cheap over the long term.
