Hewlett-Packard Co
Article Abstract:
Hewlett-Packard Co makes computers, calculators, medical and diagnostic instruments. The shares were pegged at a high of $85 in Mar 1992 before dropping to the $50 area last Oct 1992. The stock, however, climbed again to the $75 area by mid-Jan 1993 during which 19 insiders disposed of 358,575 shares at the $60 to $66 price range. This volume of insider selling is significant, particularly since most of the transactions were not option related. The insider sales for 1992 also exceeded the firm's annual average so caution is recommended.

IBM watch
Article Abstract:
IBM Corp stocks have not experienced any bargain hunting since an insider acquired 1,000 shares in Oct 1992 at the cost of $68 per share. The purchase was not significant enough to speculate on probable investor activities. Vigilance is also suggested to assess the trading actions of insiders considering the drop in IBM share price. Insiders also cannot accumulate the stock via option-related shares. A guarded outlook, therefore, is recommended for bargain hunters.
