Honeywell FCS UAV design faces moment of truth

The program officials overseeing the development of the Army Future Combat Systems (FCS) are planning to evaluate Honeywell's plans to build the FCS program's Class I unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The Boeing Co. and Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) are planning to leverage micro air vehicle (MAV) technology, developed by Honeywell, as a basis for the Class I UAV, one of the four types of flying drones to be part of FCS lead systems integrator (LSI).

United Defense reports strong financial results in 3rd quarter
Article Abstract:
United Defense Industries reported stronger profitability with net income of $52.2 million per share for the third quarter end on 30 September 2004. Third-quarter revenue of $573.4 million was up 13 percent from $507.9 million a year ago with virtually all the growth occurring in the Defense Systems segment.
