How to complain, and make it stick
Article Abstract:
United Kingdom investors seeking to complain should initially seek redress from the company they have dealt with, and then use an ombudsman. There are a number of ombudsmen involved in the financial services industry, including the Investment Ombudsman dealing with companies belonging to the Investment Management Regulatory Organisation. The Personal Investment Authority has its own ombudsman and deals with personal pensions and life insurance. General insurance tends to be dealt with by the Insurance Ombudsman.

A guide through the complaints maze
Article Abstract:
UK investors should ensure that when they complain about financial services they direct their complaint to the appropriate body. This is not always easy to do since one firm may be regulated by a number of bodies with one for each type of activity. Complaints relating to pensions may be dealt with by the Personal Investment Authority, the Securities and Investments Board or the Pensions Ombudsman, depending on the type of pension. Compensation levels also vary according to which body deals with a complaint.
