Hunting for lost shares
Article Abstract:
United Kingdom investors may suffer delays in receiving certificates when they buy stocks in Ofex-traded unquoted companies. Investors may be seeking to hold the stocks long term, or they may wish to benefit from price rises which occur because Ofex stocks are thinly traded. Ofex stocks can also drop rapidly in price so it is important for investors to have their stock certificates. Paperwork problems can affect stocks in these small companies. There are a number of measures that can be taken if there is a delay, such as contacting the broker and the registrar.

Future Aims
Article Abstract:
Companies from Manchester, England, have found the Alternative Investment Market (Aim) to be useful and it has been more popular than in many other regions. Law firms in the city have been involved in Aim stock flotations. Aim has been affected by temporary fluctuations in the market, which has meant that it is less attractive in 1998 than in 1997, but Manchester is still seen as likely to account for a generous proportin of the market.
