IBM confirms its plan in Brno
Article Abstract:
IBM, global computer firm, will build its European centre for the control of firm computer networks in Brno, the Czech Republic. The investment costs on the centre's construction will be CEK 360 mil. The centre will employ 150-200 persons, mainly university graduates, by the end of 2001. If the centre succeeds, it will be enlarged and will have 400 employees. Each employee will be provided firm training, which will cost several millions of Czech crowns. About 50% of the firm's costs will be covered by the state. This is one of the forms of investment incentives. Besides, the firm will pay only 50% of the income tax during the next 10 years, within the investment incentives. All the European market in the field of the control of computer networks corresponds to proceeds of USD 30 bil per year. The majority of the centre's proceeds will come to the Czech Republic from firms in Germany and the UK. In the Czech Republic, IBM works for Barum Continental (Otrokovice, Czech Republic).

IBM (US), computer company, plans to invest CEK 360 mil in the construction of a centre intended for the control of the computer networks of its clients in Brno, the Czech Republic. The centre, which will have 200 employees during the first stage, should be built during 2001-2005. IBM demands ivestment incentives from the Czech government for the project. A condition for the investment incentives is that at least 40% of proceeds will come from foreign clients. According to available information, the centre should work mainly for firms in the UK and Germany.

Brno will be the key city of IBM
Article Abstract:
IBM (US), computer company, will build one of the main world customer service centre in Brno, the Czech Republic. The centre will supervise the computer networks of the firms that utilize IBM computers and software, in countries of western, central and eastern Europe. The costs on the construction of the centre, which should have several hundreds of employees with a high qualification focused on computer technology, should be several hundreds of millions of Czech crowns. The project should be supported by investment incentives from the Czech government.
