Total quality can work
Article Abstract:
The benefits of total quality management (TQM) have been consistently questioned, except in Japan where quality management has been in practice for a long time. Critics find no link between TQM and bottom-line results. Surveys have shown that the failure of TQM in some countries can be attributed to poor management or management problems. Later studies conducted to measure the effectiveness of the TQM revealed that there exists a strong association between TQM and bottom-line results. TQM maintains a direct impact on financial performance, as long as its implementation is according to plan.
