In praise of anoraks
Article Abstract:
Day traders risk their capital when they invest in stocks, and they benefit everyone by cutting the cost of capital for listed companies as a whole. Instinet and E. Trade are to provide an after-hours dealing service for US private investors. These investors help companies to become profitable, and they should be praised, though it may not be wise to emulate them. They tend to focus on temporary situations instead of fundamentals, which is why they sell their capital at too cheap a price.
