Indecision is final: The volatile world of traded options is explained with money-making strategies
Article Abstract:
Current advice for trading is that investors should move fast to take profits immediately when there is the threat of trouble. The overbought situation of the FTSE 100 index resulting from the January rally, has been corrected, and the index has fallen back to the uptrendline from the October lows. Further cuts in the base rate could provide the catalyst for the next upward run, and there is the additional threat from problem areas overseas. For Glaxo Wellcome the advice is to stay with calls on a reduced basis and with British Aerospace the stop limit stays at 495 pence.

Yet another wonderful year: The volatile world of traded options is explained with money-making strategies
Article Abstract:
There are opportunities in traded options, but excitement in the market is closely linked to risk, and mistakes ae costly. There is much to favour the bulls at the start of the year, as UK base rates fall, encouraging buyers of equities. However there is the example of Japan on the bearish side, where reduced interest rates have had little or no effect on consumer spending. Glaxo Wellcome's shares at 2,039 pence shows that investors are prepared to pay for quality and top-line earnings expansion and at 906 pence, British Telecom is just moving into new high ground.

Nervous about higher interest rates: the volatile world of traded options is explained with money-making strategies. But options are risky. Consult your adviser before dealing
Article Abstract:
The FT-SE 100 index is seeing its long term uptrend come under pressure, and in previous occasions bulls managed to force prices upwards. A bearish outlook is favoured with the cost of money likely to rise making equities vulnerable. Profits can be realised on reversals from top to bottom although constant attention should be given to alterations in the mood of the market.
