Information technology
Article Abstract:
United Kingdom information technology stocks outperformed the market to Aug 1998, but stocks underperformed the FTSE All-Share index after that date. Sentiment has been an important factor in the stock price falls. Companies with long-term contracts are better placed, and they should benefit from an easing of conditions in labor markets. Independent companies may be affected by the end of work to prepare for the millennium, which may mean that in-house departments take over new development, previously tackled by outsiders.
