Interferon induction by siRNAs and ssRNAs synthesized by phage polymerase
Article Abstract:
An improved method that is used for the synthesis of T7 small interfering ribonucleic acid (siRNA), is described, which is responsible for improving the interferon response while maintaining complete effectiveness of the siRNAs. It is seen that when sensitive HSV-1 infection and interferon assays were used, then a strong, interferon-mediated, antiviral response could be induced due to the siRNAs and ssRNAs transcribed by the T7 RNA polymerase.

Negative feedback inhibition of HIV-1 by TAT-inducible expression of siRNA
Article Abstract:
The inhibition of HIV-1 gene expression in mammalian cells by an inducible anti-HIV short hairpin RNA (shRNA) expressed from a Pol II promoter is demonstrated. Results show that the system is capable of activating anti-HIV-1 shRNAs or small interfering ribonucleic acids (siRNAs) in cells infected by active virus.
