Is the great buy-back bonanza working?
Article Abstract:
Stock buybacks are seen as a way of adding value in both the US and United Kingdom. Companies may buy back stocks when their stock prices are low, and this is argued to be a way of boosting the stock price. The benefits of stock buy-backs can be assessed in a number of ways, such as whether they cut that company's cost of capital. Stock buybacks can be positive if they are part of a wider range of improvements. They are also useful to retain investors who may be impatient.
