Knee joint movements in work-related situations
Article Abstract:
Arthrosis of the knee is very often related to common work-related situations such as heavy labor. Various occupational activities yield the greatest knee moments and thus lead to possible gonarthrosis-inducing occupational hazards. By using a force plate with video display of force vectors and knee joints (VIFOR), twelve healthy and uninjured medical students were studied in set occupational situations in a laboratory for gait analysis. Results indicated three levels of knee moments, which could be identified as normal walking, flexed knee jumping, and jumping down.

Measures to prevent portable ladder accidents in the construction industry
Article Abstract:
Results based on interviews conducted among 85 ladder accident victims reveal that most of the accidents occur during activities from the ladder and that accidents are equally probable in the use of step ladders and straight ladders. While not many falls are from above 4 meters, the causes are base sliding in straight ladders, sideways tipping in step ladders and low angle of inclination in both.

Gait parameters as predictors of slip severity in younger and older adults
Article Abstract:
The association between slip severity and pre-slip gait characteristics of younger and older subjects is examined and it is revealed that gait characteristics prior to foot contact play an important role in the severity of an ensuing slip. This relationship was evaluated for younger and older subjects.
