The company's pre-tax profit was affected by unrealised investment losses in 1994. There was an 8% increase in life profits to 163.9 million pounds sterling. Profits from automobile insurance and home insurance have not risen markedly, but dividends should increase. The company's shares are recommended for investors in Mar 1995.

Life can be wonderful
Article Abstract:
Legal and General is a UK insurer which has been affected by a static housing market and its impact on the sales of endowment policies, as have many UK insurers. The company's pensions and life sales dropped in 1994, but Legal and General has not been affected badly by problems related to pensions misselling. The company's shares are relatively cheap and offer prospects for growth. They also offer a good yield for investors and are a recommended buy in Mar 1995.
