Lockheed 'very close' to JSF weight goal
Article Abstract:
The Lockheed Martin Corp. officials and the Navy stated that the weight problems with the variants of the F-35 joint strike fighter is solved as the engineers have effectively reduced the weight of the Short Take Off and the Vertical Landing (STOVL). The program managers have concluded that they are going to work on further airplane weight reductions so that, with the newly achieved weights, they will have a margin for future systems growth.
