Metal performance in extreme environments: Results from a performance monitoring study during a 438-day spaceflight
Article Abstract:
Astronauts are exposed to different stressors in a space habitat that could have detrimental effects on mood and performance. The cognitive, visuo-motor and time-sharing performance of one Russian cosmonaut was assessed during his 438 day stay in space, and performance task were chosen from the AGARD-STRES battery. No impairments of basic cognitive functions during the flight six months after the mission were revealed, although there were clear impairments of mood, feelings of raised workload disturbances of tracking performance and time sharing in the first three weeks in space and the first two weeks following return to Earth.

Analysis of synchronization and associated errors in collective work environments
Article Abstract:
A framework of analysis was developed for evaluating the mechanisms and variables that affect synchronization in a collective work environment. The technique utilizes a wholistic approach in analyzing the variables of collective activity such as the task, work process, participating individuals and work environment. Temporal variables such as the internal units of the work process and the factors that affect the interaction of the worker with the work environment are then evaluated to determine their effects on synchronization.

Effects of repeated exposures to severely cold environments on thermal responses of humans
Article Abstract:
Exposure to severely cold environments for short duration of times resulted in higher skin temperatures than the longer duration exposures for all parts of body except for the feet. The realization of discomfort was gradual and lesser for shorter exposures to cold conditions. The similarities in all other stipulated conditions for short and long exposures are discussed.
