Article Abstract:
Daniel Goure, a defense analyst, believes that the Department of Defense should seek to have geographically diverse suppliers for each type of military product needed. Goure, who is vice president with Lexington Institute, a Washington-area think tank that focuses on military and other issues, indicated that the military should not deal with a single supplier in procuring needed weapons and systems to avoid a catastrophic loss of production facilities in a single natural disaster or terrorist attack.

DOD weapons transformation may be based on flawed assumption
Article Abstract:
The decision of the US Department of Defense (DOD) to go in for lighter, smaller and faster weapons with advanced technologies in the belief that the US will need to confront only small-time adversaries after the demise of the Soviet Union is questioned, particularly in view of China's aggressive modernization of its military forces. Another worry is DOD's move to contain its budget vis-a-vis its major programs.
