Some IT recruiters have expanded abroad as a response to a weaker United Kingdom market, but Lorien has not done so. The company has to address the problem of cash generation and has to cut costs more than was initially realized.

ComputerLinks was acquired in 1997 and reported a 100% rise in profit for 1998. The company is based in Munich, Germany, and focuses on internet and network services and products. Fayrewood's profit is forecast at 2.4 million pounds sterling for 1998 to 1999, rising to 3 million pounds for the following year.
