Apple Computer Inc. has made technical improvements to its Macintosh platform to be able to capture a share of the high-end three-dimensional design market. The improvements have included a rapid increase in PowerPC processor and cache speeds, but the root of this upgrade is the company's development of an application program interface called QuickDraw 3D for developing and executing three dimensional graphics in real time.

Ted7: CD-ROM for Windows and Macintosh TED Conferences Inc
Article Abstract:
The seventh session of the three-day Technology, Entertainment and Design or TED conference proceedings of Richard Saul Wurman are now available in CD-ROM form filtered through Quicktime and Macromedia. The CD-ROM costs only about a 10th of the price of the conference itself, and while its does not provide users with the networking advantages to be gained by going to the live conference, it is the next best thing.

Macintosh vs Windows
Article Abstract:
The Mac OS X and Windows XP platforms are compared with regard to bundled software, usability, aesthetics and stability. It is concluded that the Macintosh offers a more uniform software experience, while the two platforms are equally crash-resistant.
