Monsoon soon fizzles out
Article Abstract:
Monsoon has carried out a stock market flotation and began trading at a discount of 0.05 pounds sterling to the placing price of 1.98 pounds. The company was valued at 352 million pounds. No new funds were raised from the flotation and the founder, Peter Simon, will gain 84 million pounds. The company has reported rises in sales each year since it was set up. A previous flotation was planned in 1996 but was abandoned due to concern over Sycamore, a trust holding 66.7% of Monsoon. Simon later acquired Sycamore's stake in Monsoon.
