Article Abstract:
Secretary of the U.S. Navy, Gordon England was questioned on the possible closure of a shipyard, on mothballing an aircraft carrier, on slow submarine purchases and more, in a Senate armed Services Committee hearing that also witnessed a debate on the Air Force C-130J transport, the F/A-22 Raptor strike fighter and other programs. All the issues discussed were due to the armed services facing procurement-funding due to record total defense spending.
