Article Abstract:
Lockheed Martin Corp., Launching Systems Div., Baltimore, Md., is being awarded a $77,457,885 modification to previously awarded contract N00024-98-C-5363 for the procurement and installation of MK 41 Vertical Launching Systems (VLS) for FY 99 U.S. Navy ships DDG 93, DDG 94, and DDG 95. This contract will provide for fabrication, assembly, test, installation support, and ancillary hardware in support of the MK 41 VLS. Lockheed Martin will award a major subcontract to United Defense Limited Partnership, Minneapolis, Minn. Work will be performed in Baltimore, Md. (58%); Aberdeen, Md. (38%); and Minneapolis, Minn. (4%), and is expected to be completed by Sept. 2004. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Arlington, Va., is the contracting activity.

Newport News Shipbuilding, Newport News. Va., is being awarded a $6,449,803 fixed-price contract for the extended drydocking restricted availability of USS Caron (DD 970). Work would include miscellaneous structural, electrical and mechanical repairs, and ship alterations to include drydocking the vessel. This contract contains options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of the contract to $8,908,787. Work will be performed in Newport News, Va., and is expected to be completed by May 1999. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair, Portsmouth, Va., is the contracting activity (N00024-92-H-8019).
