Article Abstract:
Sippican Inc., Marion, Mass., is being awarded a $6,547,047 firm-fixed-price option exercise for the production of 12 "Nulka" MK 53 decoy launching systems (DLS), as well as related on-board repair parts, installation check-out kits and cable assemblies. The MK 53 DLS is a deck mounted, mortar type, countermeasure system used to launch decoy cartridges to confuse hostile tracking and homing associated with anti-ship missiles. Work will be performed in Marion, Mass. (85%), and New Bedford, Mass. (15%), and is expected to be completed by October 2001. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Arlington, Va., is the contracting activity (N00024-98-C-5408).
