Article Abstract:
The Ensign-Bickford Company, Simsbury, Conn., is being awarded a $8,611,725 firm-fixed-price, indefinite-quantity/indefinite-delivery contract to provide 100 first article test units of the antipersonnel obstacle breaching systems (APOBS). APOBS is a two-man, backpacked system that can breach footpaths through anti-personnel land mines and wire obstacles. This contract contains an option, which, if exercised, will bring the total cumulative value of the contract to $72,240,036. Work will be performed in Graham, Ky. (81%), and Simsbury, Conn. (19%), and is excepted to be completed by March 2005. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured with 32 proposals solicited and four offers received. The Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico, Va., is the contracting activity (M67854-99-D-3023).

EDO Corp., Marine and Aircraft Systems, North Amityville, N.Y., is being awarded a $9,581,000 order under a basic ordering agreement for the development and manufacture of five shallow water influence minesweeping system (SWIMS) units, system improvement, testing and integrated logistics support. SWIMS is a small, self-contained, high-speed influence sweep system designed for minesweeping/mine neutralization in the shallow water/amphibious assault environment. Work will be performed in North Amityville, N.Y., and is expected to be completed by February 2002. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Arlington, Va., is the contracting activity (N00024-98-G-6313).
